MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 13th June 2005 Simplicity
In my last message I wrote about my work with sports teams. In the UK the Holst Group' under Russel Chalmers has been doing a lot of work with the National Health Service. The results have been very impressive.
Creativity is not confined to designing new products and services for business or finding new ways to advertise these. A very important role of creativity is to improve existing systems. This may mean simplification. There is no natural tendency towards simplification. On the contrary, the natural tendency is towards ever more complexity. Creativity needs to be used to simplify systems and to add more value.
A new course to help trainers develop the thinking needed for simplification will be held in September in the USA.
