MESSAGE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 21st November 2005 Traffic Lights Exercise
I travel a huge amount and it is usually not possible to reply directly to communications but I read them all with interst. There are some interesting ideas around the traffic light exercise. In order to show value the suggestions usually show how some 'problem' is solved. This is the usual problem solving mode. As a way of showing valua it is easier, more attractive and more powerful than seeking to show that a new idea actually adds value beyond problem solving. Even if you do seek to show value it must usually be some be some sort of standard value such as quite good at problem solving we are not so good at new value creation.
